Some Projects

Path to
Decarbonization

With the goal of advancing decarbonization in 2024, we measured Nutrisco’s consolidated carbon footprint for the first time, considering the operations of Nutrisco S.A., Nutrisco Chile, Orizon, Valle Frío, FiordoSur, and Flip. During 2025, we are working on a science based decarbonization plan to ensure we can make zero-emission commitments.
In our Seafood business unit, we have been working for several years on measures to reduce and mitigate our emissions, and for the second consecutive year, we obtained the 2023 Organizational Carbon Footprint Reduction Seal for the Orizon, Coronel industrial fishing complex. The seal was awarded by the Huella Chile Program of the Ministry of the Environment for the progress made in reducing our Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 35% compared to the 2020 baseline.

Proyects

Business Action
Plan on Biodiversity

We are part of the Business Action Group that worked on the development and implementation of the Business Action Plan on Biodiversity, which provides guidance so that the business sector can contribute to the implementation of the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework and the Ministry of the Environment’s National Biodiversity Strategy.

Specifically, the plan defines four key axes:

  • Capacity Building and Business Culture
  •  Innovation, Science and Technology
  • Financing and Financial Market
  • Metrics and Information Management.

Today, we continue our participation as part of the Executive Committee of Chile’s Biodiversity Pilot Plan, in which we committed to advancing the proposed commitments and also to contribute to the metrics axis. Furthermore, as part of our commitment, we actively participate in the public-private roundtables on Biodiversity and Natural Capital.

Proyects

Recycling of
Fishing Nets

Since 2020, we have had a program to recycle discarded fishing nets, turning them into products such as skateboards, sunglasses, and board games. We have recycled a total of 129.86 tons of nets with Bureo in Coronel and 0.84 tons in Coquimbo, for a total of 130.7 tons of recycled nets.

Proyects

Clean Fleet
Production Agreement

In 2024, our fleet achieved important milestones within the framework of the Clean Fisheries Production Agreement (CPA). Among these, we highlight a 76.1% reduction in waste generated onboard vessels, far exceeding the initial 10% target. This significant progress was made possible by implementing measures such as optimizing the formats of food consumed on board, favoring larger-volume options that generate less waste or, when feasible, returnable formats. Furthermore, the organic waste generated from food on board was composted, contributing to improved final disposal.

Proyects

Energy
Management System

We recognize the importance of energy efficiency and reducing consumption as an integral part of our commitment to sustainable development.

We have an Energy Management System (EMS) that guides us toward the responsible and efficient use of energy resources. In 2024, we obtained ISO 50.001 certification, which recognizes our ongoing efforts to improve energy efficiency and reduce our environmental impact.
